I am an antenatal and postnatal doula and breastfeeding supporter based in West Wales.
Invocation, by Jane Hardwicke Collings
We call the Divine Feminine
The inner knowing within each of us
Feminine wisdom, courage, strength
We call the women who have gone before us,
mothers, midwives, wise women
be with us.
Remind us to trust our bodies
remind us to trust the birth process
and surrender our fears and worries,
remind us to simply be with what is
our awesome selves
powerful, creative, yielding and wielding.
What is a Doula?
Doulas are women who offer support during pregnancy, birth and postnatally. Some work antenatally, attending births or just for the postnatal period, others do a mixture – adapting to the needs of the women they work with. Doulas are not medically trained, but are able to offer physical and emotional support as well as providing continuity of care.
“Birth is not only about making babies. It’s about making mothers – strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and believe in their inner strength.” Barbara Katz Rothman
