Make Your Own Medicine Rattle Kit

This kit includes everything you need to make your own rawhide Medicine rattle.
The kit includes- a choice of rawhide in horse, cow or deer for the head (and I sometimes have some of the naturally dyed red deer hide) , a hazel, cherry or willow stick in an appropriate size, a choice of coloured thread/sinew and some rabbit fur/leather to decorate your finished rattle (please state if you would like some added). Also included is a punch tool to make the holes for threading the head. You will need a hammer/mallet and a workbench to make your rattle on, some sand or earth to stuff the head while it dries and a handful of corn, beans or lentils to fill your rattle head and glue to fix it. Similar to a drum, rattles help to achieve an altered state of consciousness. It helps to direct the intention to the right place while it is cleaning up the area you are working in.

Hides are mostly from culled wild horses and deer in Scotland. On occasion a horse hide maybe from a pet horse and deer is sometimes from road kill.
